How I Managed to Kickstart my Weight Loss
How I Managed To Kick Start My Weight Loss
I have been about 15 to 20 kg’s overweight for at least 8 years. Over the years I made a number of half-hearted efforts to lose the weight, but always ended up having the opposite effect. I would lose a couple of Kilograms, and then gain them back plus some! I am an accountant and sit at a computer all day. As a result I was not only overweight, but seriously unfit as well.
About a year ago, I joined a gym and started a regular exercise programme, going to gym at least four times a week, and working out for about 45 minutes each time. This had tremendous health and mental attitude benefits, and I felt much better – but did I lose any weight? NOT ONE GRAM!!!
As you can imagine, this was really demoralizing – especially as I looked up my body mass index, and found that I was classified as obese! Horror!
I didn’t give up gym because I was enjoying it and the benefits are huge (stress release is one of the major benefits of a regular exercise programme), but I started looking around for alternative ways to get my weight loss programme working. I tried supplements and pills – they cost me a lot of money, but no results.
Finally after searching the internet I stumbled across Tom Venuto’s book Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle. This is a refreshing move away from the conventional diet and exercise programmes. The emphasis is on fat loss as opposed to weight loss. It is common-sense and easy to follow with a sound scientific basis for the methods used. He recommends an approach of trial and error as each person’s metabolism and body structure is different. By following this approach, you end up with a tailor made programme ideal for your needs.
After the first three weeks I weighed myself and found I had gained a kilogram!! But when I measured myself I had lost 5cm around my waist and 10% of my bodyfat!!! Suddenly the scale didn’t seem to matter so much. I could feel that my clothes were looser, and friends were commenting on my weight loss. I was thrilled!
This book can be found at http://www.be-slim-be-fit.com. I can’t emphasise how much this book has helped me and continues to help me towards my goal of having a toned, slim and healthy body.
